Anthony Edwards scored a game-high 37 points and Julius Randle added 22 points and six rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Portland Trail Blazers Friday night at Target Center.
The Timberwolves scored the first 10 points of the game and built a 35-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. Minnesota opened the second quarter on an 11-2 run pushing their advantage to 46-19.
Portland (3-7) responded with a 16-2 run to cut the deficit to nine at 57-48 with 2:15 left in the half. Minnesota would take a 64-51 halftime lead.
The Trail Blazers scored the first four points of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 64-55, but the Timberwolves responded with a 28-12 run to push their lead to 25 at 92-67 to put the game away. Portland never threatened in the fourth.
The difference in the game came from beyond-the-arc. Minnesota (6-3) connected on 22-of-50 from three-point range. They had a +48 advantage from the three-point line.
Robert Williams made his season debut for the Trail Blazers. He finished with 13 points and three rebounds in 17 minutes of action.
