Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts joined us on Rip City Mornings with Dan and Nigel to talk about Damian Lillard's All-Star inclusion and the point guard's recent, first ever, one-on-one meeting with team owner Paul Allen.
On the Lillard/Allen meeting:
"It didn't surprise me... I talked to Dame yesterday. It was characterized as a secretive meeting. It wasn't a secretive meeting. He just wanted to talk to Paul Allen. It was not a big deal as made out to be."
"I think it was just communication between 'best player' and your leader and the owner. And I've been in situations where Ray Allen talked to Senator Kohl and Dirk Nowitzki always talked to Mark Cuban and so did Jason Kidd. So, I don't see that as a big issue."
This is not a big issue for Stotts, specifically because Damian Lillard was referenced in the ESPN article as having full support for his head coach in the meeting with Paul Allen. The bigger question is what Allen thinks about the overall direction of his franchise? A question that goes unanswered as Allen grants interviews with media outlets even less often than he grants an audience with his star point guard.
