The Buffalo Bills dropped a barn-burner to the Los Angeles Rams last night and the poor play calling kept them from having a real chance to win the game as the clock wound down in the fourth quarter. Their only real shot was to keep their three timeouts and hopefully make a defensive stop to get the ball back, but they chose a running play at the goal line and were forced to burn one of those timeouts leaving them unable to keep the Rams from running out the clock. They handed the game to the Rams by keeping the ball on the ground instead of throwing passes when it mattered.
Doug Gottlieb: “Why didn’t you throw the football on first down; if it’s incomplete on second down; if it’s incomplete, on third down? And then the only time you can run the football is on fourth down. That way you have three timeouts in your back pocket...”
