Doug thinks last night’s MNF game perfectly encapsulates why both the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals are both wallowing at 5-8 and are unlikely to make the NFL Playoffs this season. Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase had a chance to run out the clock but instead continued into the end zone, and the Cowboys special teamer Amani Oruwariye tried to pick up a blocked punt that he had no business being anywhere near. Their need to selfishly play “hero-ball” illustrates the reasons why they aren’t meeting expectations.
Doug Gottlieb: “Those two plays, the blocked punt that was touched and Ja’Marr Chase not sliding and taking a knee at the one-foot line, those are the perfect examples of why both those teams, who are very talented, are 5-8.”
