The Nebraska Cornhuskers have produced some of the greatest running backs in the history of college football. Guys like: Johnny Rodgers, Mike Rozier, Ahman Green and three-time Super Bowl champion Roger Craig. Craig joined Travis and Chad on Rip City Drive Thursday to discuss his great career and this weekend’s matchup between the Cornhuskers and Ducks.
Craig had a lot of nice things to say about current Nebraska head coach Mike Riley.
“He’s done an outstanding job at Nebraska and he’s definitely a Nebraska Coach. He went to Coach Osborne and they spoke about the culture, talking about the fans, how important the fans are, because the fans run the show there. We have the best fans on the planet. We’ve had over 400 consecutive sellouts in that stadium. It just shows you how the fans and the community are all behind the program.”
He also gave his thoughts on how he would do in today’s NFL.
“If I was playing today, it would be game over. Game over baby.”
Finally he talked about the 49ers and their decision to fire Chip Kelly after just one season.
“I was really disappointed that they let him go because they didn’t let Chip Kelly get an opportunity to build his team. He had the players from Tomsula that he had to work with. He couldn’t bring his own people in. It was tough on him. I don’t think they gave him a good, fair shot. I’m a big fan of Chip Kelly. I think the guy did a fantastic job at Philly and at Oregon.”
