Jake Luton is the man

The Beavers kick off their season this weekend in Fort, Collins Colorado vs. the Rams of Colorado State. Newly-named starting quarterback, Jake Luton joined Travis and Chad to discuss what it feels like to be named the starter and to discuss this weekend’s opener.

Luton discussed how it feels to be the Beavers starting quarterback.

“I’m thankful after this long process that I’ve been through to just finally be in a position that I want to be in, which is to lead a great team to hopefully a great season.”

Luton also said this decision doesn’t take any pressure off him.

“It’s nice because you know that now the team is looking to you. Everyone has got to be able to build confidence in you. I don’t think it takes any pressure off. I think if anything it adds something. I have to come here every day and show that I’m the guy and that I’m the best guy on the field. So every day, I’ve got a chip on my shoulder to show the guys that I’m the leader of this team.”

Luton also said he doesn’t think it makes a difference that Fort Collins will be unveiling their new stadium for this game.

“I don’t know that it makes a whole lot of difference to us. I think we’re going in and we’re playing a football game. It’s probably going to be exciting for them, but I think for us whether it’s brand new or 100 years old, this is the first time I’ve played there. It’s just another football game, is how we’re trying to look at it.”
