Mike Bobo is ready for football Saturdays

The Oregon State Beavers and the Colorado State Rams kick off the season this Saturday in Fort Collins, Colorado. Rams head coach Mike Bobo joined Travis and Chad on Rip City Drive on Thursday to discuss this weekend’s season opener.

Bobo says he’s a big fan of OSU head coach Gary Andersen.

“I’ve followed Coach Andersen his whole career and he’s turned programs around. He’s got a consistent process that he sticks to. When I saw film, I saw guys continue to play hard even though they were in a little bit of a slump mid-season. They didn’t quit, they didn’t go against each other. They kept playing and found a way to win two games. That tells you that they believe in what coach is preaching.”

Bobo also talked about OSU running back Ryan Nall.

“Every coach I talk to, the first thing they say is that running back is as big as he looks on film and he’s even faster than he looks. It’s going to be a big test for our defense in trying to slow this running game down.”

Bobo also talked about the biggest difference between this year’s team vs. last year’s team.

"The guys have been more consistent in their assignments and they’ve just gotten mentally together. We were pretty good at times last year, we had six shutout halves of football. But when we weren’t very good, we weren’t very good at all. A lot of that to me is just your mental fortitude and being able to line up and say it doesn’t matter what happens. I’ve got to continue to play."
