It was a bit of a somber post-practice session with head coach Mike Riley on Wednesday in the first of two practices on the third double-day of the 2013 season. Approximately midway through practice starting linebacker D.J. Alexander hurt his right knee. The 11-game starter was helped off the field with the severity of his injury unknown – more news later today or Thursday on the junior who made 58 tackles last season.

“I’m a little worried about D.J.; we will see what the doctor says later today or tomorrow,” Riley said following practice.

That was certainly the bad news on what is a pretty good news day. Linebacker Manase Hungalu from Hawai’i hopped on a plane last night and is on campus and will be on the practice field shortly. He was the Big Island Defensive Player of the Year last season at Kealakehe High School.

And, staying on form with the linebacker topic, the OSU video team put a microphone on senior captain Michael Doctor and followed him around Tommy Prothro Football Complex.
