Despite help from neighbors, an elderly man died in a house fire Thursday.  Portland Fire and Rescue got the call just before 1:00pm.  Smoke and flames were pouring out of the house 10931 SW 61st Avenue.  Firefighters were told there was an elderly man inside, who was known to be kind of a hoarder.  Neighbors tried several times to go inside the house and rescue the man, but they couldn't find him.  Firefighters say the house was very cluttered.  It prevented them from doing their work and they assume it prevented the man from getting out.

The fire started in a bedroom, the room where the man was found. No word on a cause.
