Blazers Surprise Lakers

----- Anfernee Simons led the Trail Blazers with 29 points and Jusuf Nurkic finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers surprised the Los Angeles Lakers 107-105 Wednesday night at Moda Center.

The Portland Trail Blazers are playing out the 2021-2022 regular season for draft position, but don't tell that to Anfernee Simons, Jusuf Nurkic, Justise Winslow, and the rest of the young players being thrust into action.

Simons scored 29 points and dished out five assists and Jusuf Nurkic recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers upset the Los Angeles Lakers 107-105 at Moda Center.

The Blazers kept it close through the first three quarters before surging in the fourth. Keljin Blevins opened the quarter with back-to-back three-pointers powering a 13-4 Blazers run. Blevins received the game ball from Head Coach Chauncy Billups after the game.

Simons finished the night 5-of-11 from beyond-the-arc, nailed a critical three-pointer to give Portland a 102-98 lead with 2:44 to play in the game.

Lebron James scored a game-high 30 points and Anthony Davis added 17 points, seven rebounds, and six assists but was scoreless in the fourth with no shot attempts.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers will host the New York Knicks Saturday afternoon at Moda Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 2:00 PM.

Chad's Take- Wins do nothing for this franchise right now. Draft position is all that matters. With that said, always nice to see the Lakers and Lebron get beat.
