Blazers Take Control Late, Defeat Cavs 103-95

Shaedon Sharpe scored a game-high 29 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers earned a 103-95 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Thursday night at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.

Cleveland (10-9) opened the game on a 12-6 run on 6-of-8 shooting. they would use another 11-4 spurt to push their lead to 25-15 with 2:48 to play in the first. Portland scored the final seven points of the quarter to cut the deficit to 25-22.

The Cavs pushed their lead to 40-24 with 6:24 left to play in the half thanks to a 15-2 run. It looked like Cleveland was going to put the game away early, but Portland responded with a 14-2 run cutting the deficit to four-points at 42-38. The Cavs took a 46-40 lead into halftime.

The Cavs opened the second half on an 8-0 run to push their lead to 14 at 54-40. Cleveland held a 70-58 lead with 3:52 to play in the period after a Jarrett Allen bucket, but the Blazers had another answer.

Portland (6-12) responded by exploding for a 12-0 run powered by Sharpe and Duop Reath, who both scored five points each during the stretch, both knocking down a three-pointers. Cavs led 75-74 heading into the fourth.

With the game tied at 83-83 with 9:40 to play, the Blazers put the game away with a 12-0 run taking a 95-83 lead. The Cavs never got closer than four points the rest of the way.

Donovan Mitchell Led the Cavs with 23 points. He added seven rebounds and six assists.

The Blazers scored 63 points in the second half on 56% shooting after scoring just 40 points on 44% shooting in the first half.
