Trail Blazers Cut The Nets In Overtime

Anfernee Simons finished with 38 points and 11 assists and Jerami Grant scored 16 of his 27 points in the second half and overtime as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Brooklyn Nets 134-127 in overtime Sunday afternoon at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

The Trail Blazers got their first lead of the game after a 23-8 run to start the fourth quarter taking a 108-101 lead with 4:40 left. The Nets responded with a 12-7 run to tie the game at 113. After a Trail Blazers timeout with 22.1 seconds remaining, Shaedon Sharpe scored a driving layup over Nic Claxton to give the Blazers the lead at 115-113 with 5.1 seconds remaining.

After a Nets timeout, Mikal Bridges connected on a jumper with 1.2 seconds remaining forcing overtime.

Portland (10-25) trailed 121-117 with 3:24 remaining in overtime, but responded with an 11-2 run to put the game away. The run was powered by Malcolm Brogdon's back-to-back three-pointers.

Brogdon finished with 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting, Sharpe scored 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, and Duop Reath recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Bridges scored a game-high 42 points and Cam Johnson finished with 17 points and six reobounds for Brooklyn (16-21).

Notes- Brogdon scored 8 of the final 13 points for the Trail Blazers. The Blazers committed just 10 turnovers and connected on 20-of-38 from beyond-the-arc.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers continue their seven-game road trip Tuesday in New York City against the Knicks. The game is scheduled to tip off at 4:30 PM.
